Charlottesville City Courts

If you've been charged with a crime or traffic ticket in Charlottesville City, your case will be heard in the Charlottesville General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court, or Circuit Court. Charlottesville City courts are located in downtown Charlottesville. 

Parking

There is almost no parking directly around Court Square, where Charlottesville Circuit Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court are located. The best place to park if you are attending any of Charlottesville City's courts is at the Market Street garage, about one block south of Court Square. The first hour of parking is free at the Market Street garage. 

Charlottesville General District Court

The Charlottesville General District Court is where you will go if you are 18 years or older and you've been charged with a traffic offense or a misdemeanor. Your case will also be heard in the General District Court if you're charged with a felony and arrested on a felony warrant.

Charlottesville Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court

The Charlottsville Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court is where you will go if you're under 18 and charged with a crime or traffic infraction. You will also go to the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court if you're charged with a crime against a minor or a household member.

Charlottesville Circuit Court

The Charlottesville Circuit Court is where you will go if you've appealed your case from the District Court or if the Circuit Court issued a capias for your arrest through a Grand Jury indictment.
